- As more research is done there are more new observations and procedures
- This means more demand for medical illustrations
- New observations include only 4.5% of all medical textbook images include dark skin, therefore you cannot see how the symptoms differ on different skin types.

- A project could be designed to spread awareness of the risk of misdiagnosis based on gender and ethnicity
- Gender correction surgeries are constantly being developed and evolving. This requires illustration both for the medical professionals who want to learn how to do the new procedures and for the public who want to know what would happen during the surgery without being disturbed by graphic photos which are hard to read.
